I love this tongue and cheek mockery of WoT haha.

It takes the "dark one" and really turns it on it's head. It changes everything about how fantasy has used this trope and shows how shallow of an idea the trope can be. I loved this subversion and questioning of "why is the big baddie the big baddie" idea. The art style and some of the dialogue is cringey as all get out. Which isn't done by Brando Sando. Hence why one is amazing and the other isn't

Intruiging concept! It was however a bit confusing and took some time getting into. Might give Dark One: Forgotten, the audio story that sort of works as a prologue for this, a chance. Maybe it'll make me less confused.

I’m still not a graphic novel person. But man this was good. The world switches, the idea of the Narrative, the Magic, it’s all super cool. And I wants more!

Excited to read this series. So far I find the world-building intriguing and can't wait to see what Brandson has in store for the series. Also love the fact that it's from the perspective of a mc destined to be the villain.

From the brilliant mind of Brandon Sanderson came Dark One. A graphic novel from Vault Comics written by Jackson Lanzing and Collin Kelly that is one I've been eagerly awaiting for a while that deserves an audience as wide as it can get.

Without spoiling a lot we are thrown into a discussion about the true villain or hero of this book; The Narrative. The Narrative is treated much like the Pattern in Wheel of Time that determines who the Dark One is, who the Destined Hero is and everything in between. I won't talk too much about the story because it's a brilliant start to the series but what really drew me was the stunning artwork by Nathan Gooden and the colouring from Kurt Michael Russell. We are treated to a grand yet grounded world and a gritty fantasy setting that leans into conventional aesthetics.

The quality of the artwork is consistent yet familiar. There are courtrooms and castles drawn with the same amount of intricate detail and this is incredibly meticulous. Gooden and Russell really compliment each other in these scenes that can easily be dark and vivid but still pop to the reader which can usually be a risk in a dark fantasy world.

Lanzig and Kelly don't go unnoticed here either. This story is paced well and layered with questions and dynamic characters. There is great dialogue between characters and nothing feels forced or put in just for the sake of it and this is what i like in comics; a great story that leads off for future pay-outs. The story stands well on its own but is obviously setting up a larger scope which I'm really intrigued to see. If you're looking for a fantasy comic drenched in thrilling fights and dark secrets then this one is for you.

Paul Tanasin is an ordinary young man plagued by visions of another world. He soon finds out he is the Destined One in the world of his visions Mirandus. Unfortunately, he isn’t the Chosen One for the Light, but rather, he is the prophesied Dark One. I loved how Brandon Sanderson chose to twist the typical fantasy trope of the chosen one. My expectations were not that high because his other graphic novel series (White Sand) is my least favorite of all his works. But Dark One surprised me. I loved the art style and story. Would I have rather read it as a book? Yes (my answer will always be yes to a book over other formats like graphic novels, mangas, or audiobooks), but I enjoyed this nonetheless. And that twist in the end makes me want more.

myslím, že nápad je to skvelý... ale asi mi úplne nesadlo to, ako to bolo celé spravené, miestami ma to nudilo... ako som zvedavý na pokračovanie ak plánujú nejaké
