I enjoyed this book! A great memoir of a lady beating all odds!!!

Best book. Just read it

Poorly written. Another ex-druggie story, but not nearly enthralling as the others before it.

I usually read fiction books strictly for entertainment purposes. This book will stick with me, there are points in this woman’s story that are very heavy and if you make it through that part of her life, you will be proud of her. I will definitely remember the name Cupcake Brown.

This book was hard to read. I must have navigated every emotion that a person could have. I cried, laughed, screamed, cursed my way through it. Cupcake Brown's life was riddled with trauma. The adults in her life failed her miserably. The court system failed her over and over again. It almost gave the reader too much but what's too much when someone is sharing their truth? It was good but heavy.

This is a wonderful memoir. I love memoirs for their ability to help you learn about different world views and experiences, and this one definitely does that. For me, it was a look into a very different life from mine and while, at times, it was heartbreaking, Cupcake Brown's retelling of her life is also inspiring in her determination and pursuit of her goals. A good read and one that is very easy to understand due to the direct, simpler story-telling style.

I don't think I'm in the right mental state to continue this. Will be taking a break to care for myself.
