That’s how you write an autobiographical story.

Coarse language - not recommended for most of my friends

I'm four chapters in and walking away from it. The book is like one long stream of consciousness. He seems to wander aimlessly through stories he wants to tell and it's not very cohesive. And then he goes on rants at the end of a chapter that seem to come out of nowhere. I found myself skimming through instead of reading. Definitely not for me.

Loved all of Nick Offermans views and stories. Love how he is clear while he plays a stereotypical manly man on tv there are so many important things to being a man then eating meat and smoking cigars (though those parts are pretty great!) Will be interested what he writes about in his next two books.

Made much better by listening to Nick read it to me.

Freaking hilarious. I giggled like a schoolgirl throughout most of this book, and came away with a better appreciation for how Nick lives his life. I identify with a great deal of his philosophy and darn it if he doesn't speak the way I wish I could. Clever, funny, witty read.

Funny, endearing, enlightening and naughty. Good stuff. I wish Goodreads allowed half stars as this would have increased my rating to 3.5 stars.

This is not my usual genre to read but it's ode to Illinois was engaging and fun. Listened to the audiobook narrated by the author.

Four stars for Nick's theatre and acting stories which were super lovely to listen to! Found this hard to listen to towards the beginning of the book however with some quite cruel descriptions of taking advantage of Christians for sex, but the book eventually got much better around half way. As expected, loved the chapter on Parks and Rec and the end
