I was very hesitant to read this book. I thought it was going to be quite gruesome. After all, it's a book strictly about indians, right? Nope. I was wrong.This is a fictional account from May Dodd. May is a very strong woman who writes of her journey from an asylum in to the world of the Cheyenne Indians. I not only liked and felt connected w/ the brave May Dodd, but I also loved the other characters in the book. In this story, there is trepidation, empathy, lust, love, humor, battles and more. What a great concept for a book... maybe even a movie?

L’histoire progresse très lentement et pourtant les violences s’enchaînent trop rapidement sans laisser de marques sur les personnages. Ducoup on ne s’attache pas aux personnages, qui ne sont de toute façon que des stéréotypes ambulants.

I got 20% of the way through and just didn’t care about the characters. The progression was too slow. If the characters aren’t going to draw me in then the plot needs too but it felt like the longest intro ever.

If this had been written in the vein of historical fiction, it might have been more interesting. Unfortunately it wasn't. It quickly became very discriptive in areas that were not pertinent to the storyline. If details like a romance novel are of interest to the reader, then perhaps they would enjoy the book.
