Gave it up after doing a little fact checking, and realizing this is more heavily on the fiction side of historical fiction. Also think I'm done with men writing female narratives.
I don't usually read historical fiction, so this was interesting for the early American/native American insight. I thought, though, that the characters were rather two dimensional, even though they have historical interest, I still would like fully fleshed out characters. I still read it to the end, and wanted to find out what happened to them all.
This was a struggle for me to finish! I love happy endings and while this one was a pure ending, and felt historically accurate despite being a work of fiction, it was just plain sad to me!
This is an interesting/inventive story. Problematic parts to me centered around the use of dialect and various anachronisms. I actually think this would work better as a play or a movie.

I liked this book, it did drag at times, but the next entry would be compelling, much like a journal actually is!
