Listening to this one now. So far, so good. Wow, I really want to see the Northwest Territories now. It sounds terribly beautiful.

For ENG 540.

A good middle school or low-level high school boy book, I think. Lots of action, lots of thrilling moments. There are some nice subtle themes explored about learning/following tradition and cultural heritage with Gabe's roommate Raymond's story line, a Dene native who gets his "bush education" while out in the wilderness.

I absolutely love this book! It's an amazing book about two high schoolers who get stranded with the best elder( in my opinion) Johnny Raven. They go through many adventures and face many challenges. The author really knows how to end chapters that keep you turning pages. The first time I started reading this I read to about page 52 and then got really busy. I picked is back up around November 4 and finished it in 2 days! It's an amazing book! If you haven't read it I highly suggest you do! I can't wait to read more books by will Hobbs!

When my 12-year old son finished this book, he put it on my night stand with the note "read this book". I'm the third generation to read it; my mom passed it along to my son. It's an adventure story that values friendship and knowledge from our elders. A good choice for the whole family.

I read this because it was recommended to me by a student (thanks Brad!). It is a fast paced adventure and reminiscent of one of my all time favorites, My Side of the Mountain by Jean Craighead George. This book is based on a true story called Dangerous River by R.M. Patterson, written in the 1920's.

Not quite as good as some of his other books, but still strong characters and plot

Read this originally in middle school and decided it was time for a reread. I deeply enjoy a good survival story.

Wow! There's a lot that seems imaginary, but there are parts you can tell would be true. If you have never negative temperatures then it would hard to imagine the sheer will it takes to breath. I can't imagine being double digit negatives!

There was enough description to get a good image in your head, but enough freedom that you knew it was your picture.
Definitely recommend for a quick read!
