Read via both print and audio - both were wonderful. This book is filled with more pain than one heart should ever have to bear: a story of the risks of revolution and the dangers & impossible decisions a refugee must face for freedom. It is filled with love and loss… I was begging for a happy ending. Lemon Trees is a must-read, humanizing an area of the world that is often just a headline in the West. While this story is set in the Syrian Revolution of the early 2010’s, I can’t help but think of present day Gaza while reading it.
