This is my second read of this book after reading it for the first time less than 6 months ago. It doesn't matter that it's so recent. It doesn't matter that I remembered exactly what would happen and when. From that moment that Anne and Wentworth meet up at the concert, the mounting emotion and tension swept me away once more, just as they did the first time I read it. Once more I was caught up in the tender, desperate romance, and I simply loved every minute of it.
Surely, if there be constant attachment on each side, our hearts must understand each other ere long.
All the stars! Five just for that letter, oh that swoon-worthy letter! One of my favorite reads of this year for sure, and a new all-time favorite as well. The slow burn of this book is something else, and I was not prepared. Because we are in Anne's quiet mind for most (if not all?) of the story, this book seems so soft and composed but oh, it is full of all the passion and longing and regret of an epic second-chance romance. This was my first time reading it, and I absolutely adored it. It is now one of my favorites, second only to P & P.
Jane Austen July 2022 Prompt 1: Read one of Jane Austen’s main six novels.

SLOWER than pride and prejudice but SO WORTH IT, the ENDING, the LETTER, AHHHHHH (the movie tdid this one so so so dirty)
While I can't say it's better than Austen's other books, out it's certainly equal to them. I really like Anne as the main character, and the romance was different from the others.

I finally read Persuasion thanks to Audible's new Audible Plus content! Though it took me awhile to really get into the novel, by the end I thought it was a delight. I'm not sure where it stands in the ranks of Austen novels for me. I typically say Pride and Prejudice and Emma are tied, but now they have some competition.
(The audiobook is lovely overall, but it has some long, awkward pauses.)
