I really like this homage to the different experiences of womanhood/motherhood/wifehood that we have all dealt with - even though it kind of spans through women in the 70s and 80s and is a little out of date on some stuff. And in a book club setting!
3.5-4. My mom loved this book, in a way we’ve started our own little book club at this point. All in all, it was a sweet read & I loved the friendships that unfolded. Plus, I was shocked by some of the events/happenings in the book. One thing is I felt like there were a ton of characters so sometimes I forgot who these seemingly random names were to put the pieces back together.
I tried...I tried! I wanted to enjoy this, but I didn't.
Books about book clubs are always fun for readers. I enjoyed the characters, who were complex and likeable, and parts of this were very funny. It was set in Minneapolis, but aside from some scenes set in snowy weather, there wasn't anything to make the city itself stand out.
I have to take off a star though, because there was too much head-hopping. I would be reading a chapter from Audrey's point of view, for example, and suddenly I knew what another character is thinking or feeling, then back to Audrey's POV. Dizzying and confusing.
Put through an edit to remove that, this would be a GREAT book, and if that doesn't bother you, you might love it.

This was the first book my book club read 10 years ago and we just reread it to celebrate the anniversary. It was great and definitely stood the test of time!
I really like this book and read it every so often. Be aware that it has some language in it and some adult topics.
Thoroughly enjoyed this book! It was a different writing style than I am used to, and it reopened my brain in a way that I’ve missed. Totally going to read more from this author
I typically enjoy stories that offer multiple perspectives and this was no different. However, I felt the latter half of the book was less compelling. Early in, I wanted to get to know the characters. As the story progressed, I was left with more of an 'are we there yet?' feeling. Overall, I did enjoy the book.
