Lorna Landvik . . I’ve never been able to give her less than 5 stars. Having grown up on the MN/WI border near the Twin Cities, her books make me feel completely at home.

What a wonderful read featuring a handful of women who are brought together by living on Freesia Ct. as well as being members of a book club that lasted 30 years. It reminded me so much of the show Desperate Housewives because of how involved they were in one another's lives. The women shared each other's pain and happiness, their husbands bonded a bit and we got to see all the children grow up together bonding like their mothers.
Although the book was a bit long I couldn't help wanting the story to continue because of the cliff hanger ending. I also found myself wanting to know more about the children who were adults by the end of the book.
I do find it funny that for the most part people have picked up this book because it was chosen for a book club read and that is exactly what starts off every chapter; a very brief intro of the featured book at a book club meeting. This might not be a book you are interested in but I do recommend that you give it a chance and please note it has a slow beginning but by the end of the read you do end up caring for all of the women. You'll want to slap them upside the head every now and then but you'll also want to cry and laugh with them when the time comes. All of this while appreciating their struggles, ah ha moments, growth and genuine love for one another.

I loved this story. A really good book about friendships and life. A quick read.
Our very first book club pick. My first time as part of a book club. I had already read it once and this was my second time to read it. Fun!

This book was a treat. I loved watching these women and their families grow and change over the course of 4 decades. This is definitely one I’ll be rereading once a decade, as I grow up alongside the characters.
I am all about the characters, and will devour a book with a poor or tenuous plot-line in homage to well writ characters with whom I can connect. This book is a dream come true for the likes of me. I adored every one of these fabulous women. This book is one I will keep on the shelves for a re-read on some stormy distant winter day when I am missing the women who have shored up the ragged edges of my days. It will be like having coffee with all those distant and dearly missed friends.

This book makes me want to call my best friend and start a book club. I loved the book, but wished for a different ending. Actually, I loved the characters so much that I didn't want the book to end. This book was a good time all around.
