I enjoyed this story of women's friendship which takes place over a 30 year period. Bits dragged and bits were predictable but I found myself excited to get back to it.
The inaugural pick of my book club, I’d have never picked it up otherwise.
Kind of a slog. The main characters are fun, but very stereotypical and cliche.

I stumbled upon this book in a beach rental house many summers ago and couldn't believe my good fortune! It was simply a great, relatable, absorbing read from page 1 through the final word! Seeing it again all these years later is a perfect nudge to read the rest of Landvik's work!
This one's on the lower end of my three stars. I think I've read to many other similar books. This one just didn't suck me in. If it hadn't been a bookclub book, I probably would have given it up. Instead, I would recommend...The Divine Secrets of the Ya Ya Sisterhood, How to Make an American Quilt, and The Jane Austen Book Club. One last thing...the title made it sound like it was going to be a lot funnier than it was.
I loved this book. It reminded me quite early on of the characters in The Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood. I initially had issues with the ending, but then came to the realization that it was because I wanted more of the story not because the ending wasn't a good one. Really liked how she teased out the details of the individual characters' lives.
I just think this book is a little (sometimes a lot) too cliche. I just seems like something I've read before. Reminds me of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood, which I didn't love either.
