Well, color me surprised. This turned out to be way better than I thought it would be. Not 100% perfect, as I found the heroine to be a bit childish at times, and I wasn't overly fond of both Enthrall and Destroy in love with the heroine as well. But other than those two little niggles this was a fantastic book, and I really want book two ASAP!

I almost liked it but the writing style wasn't for me, and I didn't like how it ended. Characters were likeable though, I guess.

Carnage

I'm so glad that Iread this. It's good to come across a PNR with a decent plot and a different spin on a common theme. It definitely has a happy ending although the door is left open for a follow-up, there is no cliffhanger. I'll be reading the next one.

I don't like trashing books but this one was really god-awful. The writing and dialogue were just incredibly childish.

So Carolena gets kidnapped by a guy who brings her back to his house and ends up planning on sharing her with his brothrs so she escapes and is saved by a Gargoyle, Carnage and taken back to his place, in a village where humans are forbidden because they've caused a lot of harm to the supernatural inhabitantes of the village in the past.

I skimmed past the 50% mark, I was bored, nothing was happening and stuff. The story had potential but a lot of it was spent on useless points so yeah.

I feel like maybe I wasn't in the mood for it so I might revisit it, later because, on paper, I love this type of love story but I don't know.

Carnage is the first book in the Whispers From the Bayou Series by Sandra R. Neeley. It’s such an original, and different story- and I mean that in a really good way. It’s a paranormal romance full of action, adventure, violence, supernatural & paranormal creatures, mystery, romance, and sizzle.
Carnage is a fearsome, volatile, and dangerous gargoyle who lives in Whispers, a sanctuary for supernatural and paranormal creatures- deep in the Bayou swamps.
Carolena has fled into the swamp to escape three men who intend to do her harm. Carnage just happens to be there and decides right then and there that he’s going to help her- and keep her. Only one small problem- Whispers doesn’t allow humans there- and Carnage is breaking their laws by taking her home. What happens when she’s discovered?
I really enjoyed this fantastic story! It was such a fun and exciting read! It jumps right into the action- but it’s also full of funny moments, tender scenes, sexy scenes, chemistry, and plenty of suspenseful developments.
The characters are unique, somewhat quirky, complex, and fully realised individuals. I wanted to know all about them, and was completely absorbed by them and the story. Ms. Neeley’s world building is just fantastic- she brought the creatures to life, giving the story complete believability.
The story started off really well- but just seemed to get better as it progressed! I really can’t wait to read the rest of the series!

Thank you, Ms. Neeley!

I needed a new “world” to dive into and I am pleased with this one. I am even more pleased that this is a self published author who writes for fun. I am an aspiring author myself and this gives me encouragement and something to aspire to. I want to be BFFs with this author!

I know some folks say that the character of Carnage wasn’t really that developed and that the love between she and him wasn’t warranted....but, I honestly felt that it was nice to see the great love story take a backseat to the main female character developing her own sense of self and friends. The love story was just an added bonus. And....sometimes we love people just because of how much they love us.

Also, someone said why didn’t he learn English....I got the impression that he couldn’t form words....he seemed to understand English well enough? If not, why wouldn’t he have his own language?
