Quick Review: If this wasn’t a duology, there would be a nerdy bookish riot.
My (elemental) gods, Ross is swiftly earning “auto-buy” & “favorite authors” status on my bookshelves.
…And I know my bookish friends have been telling me this story is great, and they really weren’t kidding. I can’t wait to inhale her entire catalog.

Recommended…:
- To Juliet Marillier, Amy Harmon, Cindy Brandner fans.
- When you want an audiobook to sweep you off your feet. I’m a sucker for Scottish accents.
- For my book lovers that love to get lost in a solid story during nature walks, camping, etc.

I enjoyed my first Rebecca Ross book - now I have to wait quite a long time for my Libby hold to come in, though. So hopefully I‘ll be able to remember everything once I get to the second one. I liked following the main character through his journey of getting back to the island where he was born because he was asked to come back. And the writing style made it easy for me to listen to! Beautiful writing for a beautiful story, which I had one main problem with, though - the ‚love‘ story. It felt unnatural to me and a bit rushed. I just didn‘t feel it. What I also would like to see more in the next book is the world - I don‘t think I really have a grasp of what it actually looks/feels like.

I struggled to decide how best to rate this book. I decided to round down from 4.5 only because it didn’t totally hold me until the very end. The whole story was captivating enough, but it was hard to jump back into each time I picked up the book. However, the atmosphere this book creates is incredible. I suddenly have a longing to visit Scotland, to see hills of green, and to sit in a rainstorm. I also decided to try my hand at growing healing herbs. I can’t wait to read the next book!
