Um. I tried, I really wanted to like this one. The presentation of Vincent's OCD coupled with the spicy activities didn't make sense. Also, the clumsiness became almost comical for Kent. They both started feeling flat outside of the over the top clumsiness and the OCD... maybe I'll try again in the future but for now moving on to something else.
this was bummer for me, I've read all of Wardell's other books but this was my least favorite. I felt like each character had one character trait that defined them (OCD/clumsy), but were otherwise 2-dimentional.

I felt a tingle of attraction with everyone, regardless of gender, but I never knew what to do with it.

So sweet! So spicy! Kent is perfection. He's kind, he's thoughtful, he's so darn sweet, and of course he's a mess and a half. Vincent must be protected at all costs. He's also kind and thoughtful. He's sweet and funny and he works so hard everyday to live with his OCD. I love that he's so upfront about his illness. I also love how Kent doesn't see it as a "problem to fix" or a hindrance in any way. He just sees it as part of Vincent, because that's what it is. He stays with him when he needs someone, he finds work arounds or helpful solutions when Vincent is pushed out of his comfort zone and he complies with Vincent's requests without judgement. These two are just perfection together. I enjoyed the added bonus of the two of them working together and both their jobs relying on the success of this launch. I also sincerely appreciated that these men were not the "typical perfect romance book guys," but instead they were real, they were both over 40, had realistic bodies and appearances, and even their sex life was so realistic and, for lack of better explanation, unique to the romance story world. 3/5 spice levels.
Notes: older MCs, OCD, mental health, co-workers, divorced MC, teachers in love series cameos, great side characters, bi rep, praise kink

“You’ve given me so much. Taught me how to love. Be loved. I had to do something. Coming here felt daunting, but I shoose grwoth over security.”

I recently finished reading another amazing book by M.A. Wardell . I have been a fan of his writing since I first read the Teachers In Love series over a year ago. “Napkins and Other Distractions” continues the story of Kent Lester, the principal of Lear Elementary School, and Vincent Manda. Kent, who we met in “Mistletoe and Mishigas,” is divorced and is now exploring his bisexual identity. Vincent, whom we met in “Teacher of the Year,” has struggled to move past the friend zone in his dating life due to his OCD. However, everything changes when he goes on a first date with Kent and discovers new aspects of himself. As they spend more time together, their feelings for each other deepen.
I was impressed by how M.A. Wardell tackled themes such as sexual identity and discovery in this book. It was also great to see some familiar characters from the first two books in the series make appearances. If you haven’t already, I highly recommend adding this book to your to-be-read list!
