Read by the author, an actress who appeared on Downton Abbey, the audiobook was fun and compelling. If I had read instead of listened to this, I would have given it no more than 3 stars.

Meh…it was fine until it wasn’t…. I wish there would have been more character resolution and loose ends tied. Writing was well done and kept me interested until I realized it wasn’t going to resolve!
I am not sure how to rate this book. There were parts I liked. Most of the last 50 pages I did like. The beginning was so boring. I did figure out the twist but I feel a lot of questions are still unanswered. Erin, a documentary filmmaker and Mark her fiance, an out of work business guy. They get married and take a honeymoon to Bora Bora. They find a "bag" in the ocean and then their lives unravel. Both do shady things. I only read it due to Reese's bookclub. Almost DNF'd it a few times.

This was one of those books I couldn't put down (or rather couldn't stop listening to) and plowed through it to get to the end. That being said, there were moments of this book that were incredibly frustrating because of the characters making poor choices. I also felt that I was still left with a lot of questions at the end. I anticipated things circling around and all connecting, but there were a number of loose ends still left. Regardless, it was an exciting read and I loved the tone and strange dynamics between the characters.

Have you ever read a book that has you so caught up in it that you wish you could read faster, turn the pages faster; the tenseness just pushing you to get on with it! “Something in the Water” is that kind of book. It’s a “been there, done that” story line; a couple stumble on to money, a LOT of money, but it’s obviously not their money, and it’s origins are obviously tainted. BUT the temptation is too great … they can keep the money, right?!? It will never be traced back to them, right?!? Great read! I liked it!!
