I have so many things to say that I don't know where to start. First off, the synopsis on the back of this book was so vague, I thought it was about something completely different. My brain was thinking deep sea horror, or large sharks or something or that nature. Nope. It's just a really convoluted and stupid thriller.

Pros: The book started out just fine. I liked the main characters and their relationship. New love, engagement, and wedding, all well and good. The honeymoon in Bora Bora dragged a bit, which is when I think it was meant to pick up pace.

Cons: The FMC was insufferable. She was whiny, selfish, stupid, and spineless. Then the switch flipped, and she became so easy at criminal hijinks, it was like any previous moral compass she had was broken.

*SPOLIERS AHEAD*

Erin went from "I love you and I don't care about money at all" to "Well I can't just
walk away from 2 million pounds can I?" The "twist" was laughable and predictable (coming from me, that's awful because I almost never figure out the twist before it happens). And for her to not tell Mark about the baby was absolute bullshit. This book was well written and even clever, but the rest of it was dumb as shit.

Read this for a book club so not my normal cup of tea - it was slow moving and I almost didn’t finish. The end made up for it! I did listen to the audiobook version which was excellent as it is author read. If you are looking for that anxious build feeling as you read this is for you.

A very, very slow start but an action packed end. Not quite sure what to make of this one. The main character is a bit silly and dull and many plot points strain credulity. If you can get through the first third the pace does pick up. It’s 2.5 stars for me.

There are a lot of plot threads and characters and many of them come to nothing. It made for a bit of a frustrating and confusing read.

My biggest gripes - (1) who is Erin and what is her family backstory? (2) Do they truly have no x-raying of first class luggage? This book alludes to a lot of backstory but never properly explains it or makes it relevant in any way and that really bothered me.

I accidentally spoiled myself as to what the “something” in the water was and became incredibly disappointed and didn’t give me any motivation to keep reading.

The main character/narrator was making ridiculously stupid decisions, I just couldn’t suspend disbelief anymore (and I’m usually really good at it). Life’s too short!
