This thriller somehow felt less cookie cutter than others in the genre. I really enjoyed it!
Not really sure if I liked this book. It took me a while to get into it and then I finished it just because I wanted to know how it happened. I’m not a fan of the ending. I feel like it left a few things unresolved.

I think if I wasn't such a prolific reader I would have liked this more than I did. It was entertaining but it's not something I'll recommend.
For me, I didn't care for the characters... I loathed the husband (which seems intentional) but I also got sick of the wife, who became ridiculously pathetic. I kept wanting something to happen to her because I was tired of her denial/codependence/lack of "adulting"
There were also a few plot points that were problematic for me in that there didn't seem to be enough 'background information' to make the results plausible.
To the author's credit there was more showing rather than telling (which I appreciate) and the book does not quit. There isn't a dull moment and I was entertained enough to not want to put the book down. I was also BLOWN AWAY by the narration performance and could not believe the author herself was the narrator!
SUMMARY: The book reminded me of the movie A Simple Plan. It's not the same plot but does follow it. Newlyweds in Bora Bora find a bag floating while they're out diving. They bring the bag back to the hotel explaining what happened... and it ends up in their room. They eventually open it and find cash, diamonds, a phone, and a gun inside. After a brief search on international law, they decide to keep it for themselves, especially after they go back out in the ocean and see a plane that had crashed/sunk.
From there the couple goes back to England and begin trying to sell the diamonds/put the money into their accounts without suspicion. The husband's behavior causes all kinds of red flags and you start to wonder what he's up to...

I genuinely do not understand the point of what I just read. The plot made no sense, the characters were wildly annoying and flat, and I would never ever consider this a mystery.
Need more time to formulate a more articulate review, but I would NOT recommend this one at all.

I enjoyed this story and the author was an excellent narrator of her own work. I didn't want to stop listening and would get back to it as soon as I could. I would love to listen to her narrate more books. This book is a thriller/mystery and it would be spoiled to say more about the plot than is already in the description. The very end was a bit strange. Not sure what the point was to that last little bit unless it's possibly setting up for a sequel.

One of the first books that truly chilled me to my core!
Most of my issue with this book lies in the fact that the main character does not feel like a real person. She isn’t exciting enough to have quirky interests or be naive about the world, and yet so many normal conclusions to life hit her during the book. Her realizations don’t feel like those of a 30 year old woman. Her personality is all wrong. I suppose her naivety is supposed to lend itself to the Big Conclusion, but I mainly find myself confused as to how she got this far in life.
I also found it odd how she related to the 3 prisoners she was interviewing. The young, poor, preyed upon woman she saw as rotten to the core. The middle class woman, she relates to and befriends. And the murderous gangster she looks up to like a father figure. It’s interesting how she picks and chooses who is the most guilty, who is the biggest criminal. She does not consider any of what she done as real crime, she’s just dipping her toes
