Dear Eoin Colfer: Please to be writing another Hitchhiker's book? You are truly the most worthy successor around to pick up where Adams left off. Plus, your Arthur and Ford make me super super happy ♥

With Eoin Colfer been handed the mantle of continuing in the footsteps of the writing genius that is Douglas Adams, expectations was high, possibly impossibly high.
What we get is the gathering of most of the core characters (Melvan, unfortunately died in 'Mostly Harmless'), as they go in another zany adventure. This involves the God 'Thor', Zephod being his manager, an immortal green alien who wants to die, and of course the now teenage and ansty 'Random' Arthor and Trillian's daughter.
The story is more straight forward and longer than we are used to in this series, the length of some of the chapters can be off puttingly long.
Persevere though and you will be rewarded with a surprise conclusion about the Vogons attempt to eradicate all humans.

Loved this much more than the rest of the series, which I know is controversial. Well paced, funny, great narration.

I love the hitchhikers guide and I thought it would be fun to visit with these characters again. But it was just … wrong. Nobody can do Douglas Adams. It is weird to try. Zaphod was particularly all wrong.

This was hard to review, because I really love Eoin Colfer for Artemis Fowl and I appreciate him trying to wrap up the series in a coherent way. But nobody in the world can replicate Douglas Adams, and it made this book feel more like fan fiction than a sixth installment.

An adult version of [b:The Phantom Tollbooth|378|The Phantom Tollbooth|Norton Juster|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1320476717s/378.jpg|1782584], Adams' stories are ridiculous, lack sense, but still crack you up.
