I enjoyed the sequel of the YOU series more than the first book and it left me looking forward to reading the next one.

Okay, so I’ll start by confessing: I watched the show You before ever picking up the books — and honestly, that made reading Hidden Bodies so much more entertaining. I couldn’t stop picturing Penn Badgley’s intense face and whispery inner monologue every time Joe said something utterly unhinged (which, spoiler alert: is all the time).

This book is the sequel to You, and wow… Joe Goldberg is still a delusional, murdery menace — but now he’s in L.A., which somehow makes his chaos feel even more unhinged. Like, Joe hating on kale smoothies, influencers, and Hollywood phoniness while actively lying, stalking, and… you know… killing people? Iconic behavior. Delusional but iconic.

What I love about Caroline Kepnes’s writing is that she fully commits to Joe’s voice. It’s dark, obsessive, narcissistic, and somehow still hilarious in the most messed-up way. You’ll be horrified and still laughing — which probably says something about me, but here we are.

Having seen the Netflix adaptation, it was fun catching the differences — the book dives even deeper into Joe’s twisted brain, and I honestly felt like I needed a shower after some chapters. But like… a good shower. A satisfying, “wow that was a wild ride” shower.

If you liked You the show and can handle some pitch-black humor and messed-up internal monologues, Hidden Bodies is 100% worth reading. Just don’t try to “understand” Joe. He doesn’t even understand himself.

DNF @ 28%. Maybe I didn't get to the good part yet, but something was lacking in this book for me. Maybe it's because I already have watched Season 2 of You on Netflix. I don't know, but it just didn't do it for me. I didn't crave reading this book, in fact, it would make me sleepy. Putting it down and calling it a day.

Mein Guilty Pleasure. Band 3 ist schon gekauft.

I’m completely invested in Joe Goldberg.. what’s going on happen next.

People are giving this book a hard time. They’re judging it too harshly and not seeing all of the metaphors and imagery that is written between the lines of these words.

Joe found love. True love. In a time when his life is less than perfect.

I nearly had a panic attack with him in the bathroom in Little Compton. And I sighed with relief over the sight of the rainbow dress in the doorway.

This story is captivating and I feel privileged to have read it.

“It’s possible to know people. They show you who they are. You just have to be looking.”

Thank you again, Caroline, for my adventure through your words.
