I’m completely invested in Joe Goldberg.. what’s going on happen next.

People are giving this book a hard time. They’re judging it too harshly and not seeing all of the metaphors and imagery that is written between the lines of these words.

Joe found love. True love. In a time when his life is less than perfect.

I nearly had a panic attack with him in the bathroom in Little Compton. And I sighed with relief over the sight of the rainbow dress in the doorway.

This story is captivating and I feel privileged to have read it.

“It’s possible to know people. They show you who they are. You just have to be looking.”

Thank you again, Caroline, for my adventure through your words.

Hidden Bodies by Caroline Kepnes. I remembered why I didn't finish reading this on ebook and luckily I bought this book cheap as a secondhand/used online. There's a big difference between the show and the book. I really loved the You Netflix but really hated this book. Too many characters to keep up, the Love in book are freaking sucks , I really hate her personality. The Love in show are very romantic, a mellow meek person.
dark funny tense slow-paced
Plot or Character Driven: A mix
Strong character development: No
Loveable characters: No
Diverse cast of characters: No
Flaws of characters a main focus: Yes

At first I was so hyped and then it just dragged on and so I read some reviews to figure out what other people thought. Well. There were some pretty good parts not gonna lie. But in comparison to the first book? Then this just stinks.

Also what the actual fuck was the ending? Can you even called it that? I was soooooo mad when the audio book suddenly ended.

Joe was just sexual and more of a pervert than anything else. He seems on edge all the time, in YOU he was more controlled in my opinion.

The whole side characters where pretty bland and Love was so weird. I just couldn't grab her altough I think she would have made a great character. Buuuut everything was just about Joe all the time. And sex. Oof.

Sometimes the old Joe came through and these were the parts I enjoyed but hm they weren't enough.
dark fast-paced

felt a bit too convoluted compared to the previous novel, with too many forgettable characters introduced and little follow up on most of them. but the plot was still gripping and kept me on the edge, and i appreciated that it tied up the loose ends from the first novel

I have problems with this book. I really enjoyed the first book in this series, You. It was extremely unique in it's concept and POV. This one, on the other hand, changes format and becomes very repetitive. This guy is no longing shocking with how he makes decisions in life and it becomes old and tired very quickly.
Then, you get to the end. And the book literally just ends. Is this setup for another sequel or did the author fall asleep while typing and just decide to call it quits? If there is another book in the series, I probably won't pick it up. This one was a little bit of a struggle to finish and had no pay off in the end. I'm over this series.

This is my first ever review and I hate to say that I’m disappointed. Hidden bodies takes a drastic turn from You, most notably character wise. The majority of characters feel oddly obsessed with Joe and their actions appear accordingly unrealistic, jolted, and extremely fast-paced. Joe got away with too many things to make this thriller actually enticing in the long run. I think the best parts of the book were when Joe was back to killing people because for at least a moment, Joe had to solve his own problems and some of the scenes were pretty creative and enjoyable. This loses its effect in the second half of the book, when most of the interesting things occur off screen leaving the reader with just a paranoid Joe.
The book did tie back occasionally to the events of the first which were very nice to follow, possibly the best parts. However, it’s very hard to picture the Joe in Hidden Bodies to the one in You. It may have something to do with the theme of losing yourself to Hollywood, but Joe gets a lot more annoying in this book and his personality change is quite drastic from his book one persona. Overall, the sequel just misses the mark on what made the first one so appealing, and I think the changes made for the Netflix sequel were ultimately the best decision to save this plot.

3.5

3.5. this was really great on audio. re-read because I'd like to read the rest of the series and finish the show.
