I am just not here for the Digory redemption arc he should have been left with nothing while Polly gets a present.

I’m reading the series in chronological order, apparently, and having known Narnia, I enjoyed reading about its creation. This has an interesting perspective as it’s like the story is being told to you by a third-party at times. There is certainly a very strong religious overtone throughout the book, but you are able to separate it and focus on the fantasy instead. Regardless, this is quirky and fun with moral lessons threaded throughout and magical world building. I’m looking forward to seeing if/how these characters relate in the rest of the series.

Way too biblical for my liking

i think about the wood between the worlds every day

Reread of my fave Narnia book.

As an adult, I see the religious imagery, and I think my awareness of it diminished my enjoyment of the story. Not to say it wasn’t an enjoyable read, it was, and I’m glad to have done it, but sometimes things aren’t as good the second time around, and that’s perfectly okay.
