oh no, insta love, but otherwise very nice and sweet!
Amelia is an eighteen-year-old who is obsessed with the book series that changed her life and built an incredible bond with her friend Jenna years before. Right before she’s able to meet her dream author at an event he cancels. Soon after Amelia finds out Jenna met him and it causes a rift between the two. But before Amelia and Jenna can fix their friendship, Jenna is killed in a car accident. While Amelia is still grieving from Jenna’s death, she receives a rare edition of the first book in the series.
Amelia then starts a journey to discover who sent the book and a trip to the book store it came from. Little does she know that this trip will change her life and answer some of the questions that Jenna was no longer able to answer for her.
I don’t even know how to describe this story. It pulled me in from the first page and is so unforgettable. Amelia’s using books as an escape is something a lot of book lover can relate to. Her character is written in such a way that you fully feel her love of these books but also her grief when she loses Jenna.
The story itself is written in a very flowy way and doesn’t have a cliff-hanger ending. It goes through the events well. The progression is done very nicely as well. Overall, it’s a very enjoyable story. I highly recommend it.
I received an advance copy through netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

"There are a hundred thousand ways to tell a story...You need to find the story that means something to you, a story you like telling."
I've just been sitting here staring at the review box for ten minutes. I've typed something and then erased it because it just doesn't feel adequate to describe this book.
This is a book about grief. It's a book about finding someone who understands you and can share both your pain and your light. It's about finding your own family when yours is broken. It's about accepting that people who care about you have expectations of what you will accomplish because they want the best for you, but you ultimately have to choose your own path. You cannot live for someone else, and some very special people can help you discover that. It is also a book for the true bibliophiles. It's a book about books and writing and the magic of story telling.
If you have ever felt like a book truly saved you, then this book is for you. You might even feel like it's about you.
Amelia Unabridged is one of the most beautiful novels I've read. Ashley Schumacher's writing is stunning, and her understanding of the importance of books is evident. Consider this not just me recommending this book, but throwing it at your face (gently, in paperback form). Go spend some time with Amelia and Nolan. You'll be grateful you did.

Life doesn’t always go the way you planned it. This book destroyed me but it also reminded me about my love of reading. Two friends bonded by one book. When one of those friends has to leave, the other takes to journey on a path like she didn’t know she was fated to take. This was a love letter to friendship, two books, to the imagination. I really can’t see more because I don’t want to spoil it but it was amazing and I highly recommend this book.
This book wasn't perfect, but it was raw. The emotion that Amelia felt after her best friend, Jenna, died is real and so well-written. The grieving process she goes through where she's tired of living in someone's shadow and the expectations others have set for her is real.
The flaw I have is the quick romance that occured between Amelia and Nolan. I wish there was more of a building of friendship first. I think that they can show the relationship building slower as friends. It seems like they found each other and then immediately became attached. Almost like Amelia jumped from being Jenna's plus one to Nolan's.
But this book was very good and I enjoyed the story. I do think it's an important book for anyone that has lost someone, especially in the YA realm.

Loved this one and finished it in 2 days. It's a story of friendship as well as love, of fear vs. safety, of establishing boundaries for oneself rather than allowing others to define you. The last is probably the biggest challenge faced by the two main characters, Amelia and Endsley. Both have experienced loss and grief, and each is paralyzed in their own way. In spite of the challenges they face, circumstances work out pretty neatly and definitely in their favor.
If you like books, messy lives, and tidy romances, this is the perfect book. You can add it to your "mostly like to inflict emotional damage" list.

4.5 stars. I really enjoyed this book. I loved the characters and their stories. I loved the book references and the book store setting. Reminded me a bit of Gilmore Girls type neighborhood. Plus, the storyline of loss and confusion on the onset of adulthood was heartfelt and sincere. I enjoyed this book very much.
A gift from Amelia's only friend takes her on a journey that leads her to a life full of possibilities where she could choose what she wants in life rather than living a life that is expected of her.
I loved the writing, the plot, the characters and the ending.
There is so much friendship, love, family, relationship and life to look forward to.

If you’ve seen any hallmark movie, you’ve read this book. Same same same. I enjoyed it. I love hallmark movies.
