Sad and sweet, but ultimately hopeful, I enjoyed this book about books, writers, and super fans. While the friendship between Amelia and Jenna did not always seem healthy, it nevertheless showed how strong bonds can be. I would have liked to know a little more about Nolan and the trauma that led him to the recluse he is at 19.

Wow! I just finished reading the book a mere minute ago and I already want to reread it. Some of the passages in this book are so beautiful written and warm my heart that I want to highlight (which I would need a secondary book for) and eventually hang quotes throughout my house.
Definitely recommend to everyone!

There are books that truly feel magical and surreal in the depth of imagination, emotion, and overall immersive experience they cultivate. Books that remind you how there is nothing else in the world truly like losing yourself and finding yourself in a good book. This is one of those books that will leave you absolutely speechless and forever changed. This stunning debut novel is one of those.
I recommend this book for anyone because I think it’s a great example of what poetry can be in literature. I think YA readers who already love poetry, realistic themes and characters, those who have endured hardships, are in the midst of discovering their own identity, or have ever lost someone, those who have felt alone, readers who love relatable stories of friendships, books about books and writers, and even more will love this book. I think both adults and young readers could enjoy this, though the curation to the YA audience is spot on. Personally, I wish I had read this as a sophomore in college- it would have been a beacon towards a path I had to find the longer way to myself.
Though it’s heavy, I truly think it’s worth the emotion, and I truly believe most people would still thoroughly and deeply enjoy this book if given the chance. As someone who read over 200 books last year and has always been an avid reader, I really can’t describe how intimate, special, and impactful this book was. My inner poet was snapping fingers the entire time, my hopelessly romantic heart felt all the butterflies, angst, and tender romance, and my writer’s and book lover’s spirit felt so alive page after page. This is a book I’ll remember fondly and suggest often.
“But if the world must be made of car crashes and unspeaking books, let there at least be no guilt in companionship, not matter how brief. To quote Valerie, everything is silly because everything is temporary.”
