I absolutely loved this book!
.
It had me hooked from the beginning but it did slow down in the middle and I did have to struggle through maybe a good quarter (there was a lot of scene setting and character building which is usually fine but I was having a low concentration couple of days so I can’t really blame the author for this)
.
By the end I absolutely loved the characters & the story! It’s for sure a slow burner but well worth committing to! I loved it and I’m beyond excited for the next in the series

I really enjoyed this book and the storyline. Ryanne is a human who is touched by fae and has a little pixie guardian she calls bug. Ryanne is able to see visions but not anything of value other than seeing who men are going to fall in love with. Everything changes when she meets a Titus, he ends up marking her and things take a turn. They travel to the fae world and Ryanne is learning more and more about herself. The ending blew my mind and I didn't expect it to end the way it did. I was happy to have received an advanced copy of this book and cannot wait for the second one to see what is in store for Ryanne and Titus.

I got this ARC from BookSirens and I got to choose this story to read and live vicariously through and it made me so happy!

Ryanne, a human girl gifted by the fae finds herself on a conquest to find real love. Or at least try because her visions always let her know how terribly her relationships would end if she decided to start them. However it is when she meets Titus Doyle that the adventure of her life really starts, even tho she doesn’t recognize it like that at first.

I felt like overall it is a very interesting story and plot, with some side characters that really made it feel light hearted and fun — Bricius I’m looking at you!

I’m super invested in knowing what happens next and learning more in depth about the MMC backstory!

I liked the adventure and the development of the relationships — Ryanne and Titus but also Titus and Bricius.

I wish there was a little more romance — although as I finished I got the sense that it was more subplot than the main one. But as it was advertised for Ryanne romance fails because of her touch of fae, I wish there was more to it. However, it makes me curious to see how it will develop in book 2!

If you like fantasy with magic, pirates, fae and pixies, romance and mystery, I highly suggest reading this one!

Touch of Faete – Bradaís Pledge #1 - Review

Couple: Ryanne Kelly & Titus Doyle

Author: Ligia de Wit

Tropes: PNR, fantasy romance, fae & pirates, mythology, folk lore, hidden prophecy

Review: AHH this book to me was like a twisted Peter Pan retelling and I loved it. The book is a dual POV fantasy romance thriller about a feisty young human oracle and a mercenary pirate.

The book centers around Ryanne as she embarks on a mission to determine if Titus is able to feel. Her journey is unique and filled with betrayal and deception on all ends. I loved how Ryanne battled herself to find the best in Titus even after his betrayal.

Titus on the other hand is a character that I hated to love. His curiosity about Ryanne is what made his POV better. I loved reading how his feelings evolved, especially in regards to his desire to horde gold and his desire to keep Ryanne. Ligia did an amazing job depicting his inner battle with himself and his crew.

The book is mild spice but mainly is about the growth of feelings and desire in Titus. I enjoyed how his intrigue lead to him learning about how he feels towards people and I really liked how he had a desire to unravel where his “cold” power came from. My favorite parts were when he decides to free Ryanne’s pixie and save her from the experiments he sold her off too.

The books ends on a cliffhanger and will keep all levels of PNR readers engaged.

Rating: 4/5, great first book…excited for the next one!

Thank You BookSirens for my ARC ebook.

This was a fun book to read, and the pacing felt good. I did enjoy the story, and I'll be looking forward to the second book.
This is a contemporary fantasy with fae, a seer, and immortal pirate.
I liked Ryanne's character. She just wants to find love, but being touched by fae, how will anyone understand her life and pixie guardian. Then enters Titus, he is an immortal old-fashioned pirate with a darkness in him that feeds his mind. She is sunshine, and he is a grump. Titus is the first person she can talk to about her life. But can he be trusted? And why does he deserve redemption. But after the epilogue, I think I understand why him. It was a good little cliffhanger to lead to a second book. I am definitely intrigued and wanting more.

This is a unique contemporary fantasy with fae, a pixie, an immortal pirate and more, which culminates in a cliffhanger.

What I liked most— The premise is very unique and worthwhile. The deeper you delve into the story, the clearer the author’s writing strength becomes. Rayne (the female main character) was created for a purpose which leaves her plainly naïve but makes it enjoyable for the reader to watch her develop. The pixie (Bricius) was my favorite by far and by the end of the second chapter I wanted one of my own. Titus serves as a pleasant surprise along the way. His character was well developed and fun.

What I liked least— I struggled with the world-building aspect as it seemed quite rushed, and frustratingly, had a great deal of unexplained language. Also, the prose (a good 45% of the book’s beginning) was slow, even though a lot happened. I kept hoping for an upswing in tempo, but it did not arrive until much later. Also, it was a bit of a let down that the ‘enemies-to-lovers’ aspect was rather obvious from the start.

Ligia De Wit is an author worth watching. She has clear potential and I will keep an open eye for her next book in the series.

I received an ARC copy for free and am leaving this review voluntarily and without compensation.

I thoroughly enjoyed Touch of Faete!!

Touch of Faete starts off slow, but still meaningful. You have a buildup of characters and story that leads further into the stories of the main characters.

I never fancied myself a pirate lover, outside of Captain Jack Sparrow of course, but I found myself in love with Touch of Faete's handsomely rugged, emotionally challenged pirate captain!!

Touch of Faete allows you to not only read about the character growth, but feel it in the writing. I absolutely loved that while reading. I found myself with a cheesy grin on my face, occasionally giggling to myself as I was reading.

I am so excited to see where Touch of Faete leads, but I can wait patiently, because all good things are worth waiting for!!

Definitely give Touch of Faete a read!!!!!

Thank you, NetGalley for the ARC & opportunity to read & review!

Although this is an “Adult” Fantasy Romance- imo it had more of a YA vibe. The FMC- just had a naivety & personality that felt more like a teen/early adulthood outlook. This is a high/low fantasy in the real world, and Faery realm. It was a little bit of a Peter Pan & Pirates twist but with Fae.

I thought the plot was interesting, and tropes that I noticed were:
-Forced Proximity
-Captor/Captive
-Tend to wounds
-Enemy to potentially lovers
-Morally Gray MMC redemption
-Grumpy Sunshine

I think anyone who like fairytales & contemporary romance chick-lit would find this fun. The FMC is big on “rules” in the dating game, and I found the main romantic interest to teeter on a balance between someone I could root for & someone I loathe. The romantic interest was a bit too unrequited and questionable- but perhaps this will be explored further in the series?

I wish the author included a glossary of terms, bc it contained a lot of (what appeared to be) Gaelic/Irish terms in classic Tuatha De Danaan terminology- but in a very RomCom & American Setting. This felt conflicting to me- and I would have liked to have more information with terminology etc.

All in all, this was an easy read.

Thank you NetGalley for providing me with this arc in exchange for an honest review.

I typically read only a partial description of don’t read the description at all. So, I went into this blind and only selected the book because of the cover and title.

This was an interesting read for me. Especially since I am not much of a romance reader. I liked the twist on the fairy/pirate romance but I wish there was more world building in the beginning. The beginning was difficult to get through because of the lack of backstory, There was no mention of Ryanne’s age until the 3rd chapter. This should’ve been mentioned in ch 1 imo.

Titus kept having a 2 word thought throughout the book (k… h…) but in the beginning there was no explanation for why. I also, think that the author should’ve taken more time to name things (I.e. dannan-dhubbh) because many of the names of creatures, places, etc.. sounded as if they were random words from a toddler.

My final complaint is the way Titus’ body was described throughout the book was cringe for me but it could also be because I rarely read romance. Others might enjoy those parts.

Overall, this was a good book and I can see it taking off. The good definitely outweighed the bad and I’d give it 3.5 stars.
