This book is a slight deviation from his other ones. Technically speaking, this is not a spy thriller but more of a mystery novel. Also, the pace slows considerably in the mid section of the book. Would enjoy more if Silva sticks to his original speciality and genre with all his usual characters.

All the classic Allon.

Always a favorite, the adventures of Gabriel Allon do not disappoint in the latest by Daniel Silva. There's a lot of theology to wade through, but he makes it interesting because the plot depends on it.
If you like the series, you'll enjoy this addition, even if it's more talk and fewer explosions.

A more Allon-centric book this time around, quite readable and fun. Maybe not my favorite from recent books in the series, but enjoyable, escapist entertainment with a message (or three!).

Fantastic! If you've never read any of Silva's Gabriel All on books, you are really missing out!

3.9. Gideon saves the Vatican again. More theology than usual, and some of the politics sounds very present day.

A good book but not really a Gabriel Allon book. It could have been done without him and perhaps even better--perhaps a book where Silva could have explored many of the people within the Vatican and only have Gabriel there as a side character so we see we're in the same "universe".

I wasn't too impressed with the previous Allon thriller. This one, however, delivered a great storyline and an awful lot of history on right-wing Catholicism. Great combo.

As a fan of Dan Brown this book gave me the same vibes, but not the same level of suspense and thrill.
Would still highly recommend!
