Infuriating characters but very well written. I can see how people would be turned off by this but people like Jess exist whether it makes sense or not. I think I might have hated Jess because she just seemed to be a dingbat but i liked how the book also iterates that life isn't always a straight line.
Hm. This was incredibly frustrating to read at times. And I believe the overarching message is how much are you willing to ignore in your relationship to be happy, and is that real happiness when you’re sacrificing your own beliefs and values? I really empathised with the main character and the constant gaslighting from her partner, the microagressions from him and her workplace are hard to read, let alone the fact this is a real reality for many people: being asked to tone yourself down, that you’re overreacting. I wanted to punch so many people. Sigh.

Wait maybe i need to read normal people again… this book was like good and bad and frustrating and cringe but soo interesting and thought-provoking. How much of someone are you willing to excuse for love?
I don’t know I just felt kinda meh at the end… I know it was a realistic ending to the book for the most part, but it was just a let down from where I thought it may have been leading. I just wanted more assertiveness from the two main characters.
