I don't really know what to say, except awesome, incredible, wow...just read it, because it is undeniably one of the best books I've ever read!
this book was incredible. I loved it. Like others have mentioned the beginning is a little slow and hard to follow, but I was warned about this so I trekked through it. Am I glad that I did! The rest of the book starts to speed up like a snowball rolling down a mountain and the climax comes crashing on you. I LOVED it. I relish books that speed up and go BOOM! Follow this up by a nice cleaning up of loose ends and I'm a happy camper. I do think I'll need to read it again to really follow it and understand everything, but I don't mind doing that. This book is incredible.

There's a reason this book won an award. This is such a great read. This is one of those books that will make you remember why you love to read, the one you never regret picking up in a bookstore. You'll love every character, your curiosity always at it's pique, there's a sense of nostalgia for your childhood days, and it's just a beautiful story that would make you laugh and cry at the same time. Highly recommend this
Just leave me a moment while I clean my insides off of the floor where they ended up after Melina Marchetta ripped them out with this beautiful disaster.
at first i wanted to throw this book out of my window and didn't understand what was happening, but as it went everything started to make sense and i started to love the characters and it was just great
Is there anything more heartbreaking than Jonah’s explanation for why he was waiting on the platform for the train to Yass? A story forever burnt in my memory and another great from Melina Marchetta.
I am without a doubt, utterly and completely wrecked. My heart is flayed open through the simple prose that is Marchetta's writing.
She does what any great writer does, she shows instead of tells. To the very last page, you're learning and discovering things about each character. The characters - mm, oh my god - the characters are so multifaceted that they seem real. I also really enjoyed how she wove two different generations of stories together.
I will have to say that it takes a while to get into the story, probably past the 30% mark, but once you do you won't want to leave. The style is at first confusing and a little jumbled, but the story unfolds beautifully, and your heart just clenches with every page.
Jonah, my sweet Jonah, he has a heart of gold, and is so flawed and scarred by his past. Rafe, at first a character that seems superfluous to the story soon becomes so dear and so critical to Taylor. Chaz Santangelo, at first a simple townie, but reveals himself to be a good person. But, Taylor Lily Markham, a girl who was abandoned by her mother at a 7-11, at the too young age of 11. Taylor was blunt, crass, and still felt too much. She stole the show. Everything was completely unreliable since it was all seen through her eyes, yet I couldn't get enough.
On the Jellicoe Road is a beautiful, heartbreaking story of two generations of kids, in a place where the trees made a canopy, and you can sit on top of them and see forever.
