I read It’s Just Business over the weekend and it’s just what I needed.

Haley is a florist and just found the perfect location for her shop. She mentions it over coffee and notices a handsome man nearby who appears to be listening to her. She has no idea he’s looking for a restaurant location and will steal her shop. Despite this they continue to run into each other and start to develop a friendship. I loved their connection and chemistry.

I loved Haley and her quirky personality. She is also joined by Hope and Avery. (We met Hope in If It’s Perfect) They had a hilarious friendship and I loved their banter. Enemies to lovers is my favorite trope!

Haley is scattered, passionate and knows what she wants - to own her own floral shop. Too bad Austin steals the property right out from under her all due to an overheard conversation. When Haley finds out, she is determined to sabotage Austin's restaurant opening at every turn. But as the pair keep running into each other, feelings start to develop and lines begin to blur. How far will Haley push to achieve her ultimate goal? Is it worth losing a man she never thought she would find?

This book just made me smile! It was so cute and I loved Haley and Austin. Their continual meetings, complete with awkward interactions and flirtation, had me swooning over their budding relationship. They both are hiding secrets, all while trying to not fall for each other. I loved their basketball volunteering adventures complete with all the powdered sugar donuts one could ever want.

This book is perfect for you if you love:
•Enemies to lovers
• Sabotage and subterfuge
• A slow burn romance

It's Just Business is out March 25!!

A huge thank you to the author for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

This is the second book in Summer Dowell's Wedding Business Series and I loved it just as much as the first! I caught myself laughing out loud a couple times and loved the "friends" reference! Hayley and Austin were great characters, you really got to know their personalities and their chemistry was great! Definitely hoping for another one in this series!

Synopsis:

Haley, a successful wedding/event florist, is finally ready to take the next step in her business and open up a beautiful floral shop right on Newport Beach. Little does she know that this coveted spot would be the downfall of her love life and her future shop.

Austin, an up and coming restaurateur manager, finds a spot on Newport Beach for his boss, through a not so reputable way, but you know "It's Just Business." Through his guilt, inability to stay away from a pretty girl, and his inability to tell the truth, he may get himself into a pickle.

Review:

This book is so cute, a little vengeful, but so so funny! Haley is such a lovable character with all of her chaotic energy and crazy plans. Her character is so well developed through her relationships with others, and her willingness to go all the way. Austin is seriously such a good guy, though he may have made a mistake. I loved the turns this book took, though some of the pranks seemed a bit more of felonies, but it was still horribly funny! Truly if you love rom coms of any kind, you will laugh a bit too much reading this book. Also you may learn a thing or two about cars...... Guys I was clueless but definitely learned what a PCV was?!? GO PREORDER NOW! It is so so funny!!! And so so good!

Content Warning: Mom with chronic divorce and relationship issues.
Clean Rating: Squeaky Clean, with a bit of shirtless attractive man fixing cars action.

I like it but I’m just not a fan of pranks that cause humiliation. I think Haley’s revenge because Austin took the business location was a bit mean. It was like miscommunication but just withholding information and I think they could have worked it out if they talked. I know that won’t make for a good story but I hate seeing people get embarrassed?
Idk the rest of the story was sweet and you could slowly see them falling for each other which was sweet

Just... NO
To call this an enemies to lovers book is an insult to the trope.

Loved it!

This book made me laugh out loud multiple times! I admit I was a little bothered at first by how Haley decided to get back at Austin. But I was already enjoying the characters so much that I couldn’t put it down. I loved how it all turned out, and I can’t wait to read more books by Summer Dowell! This book was rom-com gold! With powdered sugar on top. ;) (I am definitely craving powdered sugar donuts now, so I recommend that all who haven’t read this yet get some donuts ahead of time to go with the book.)

Thank you sooo much to @summers_pen for the copy of her new book It’s Just Business!!! It was so great!

I recently read the first book in the series, If It’s Perfect and can scroll back to find my review on that.
From the beginning I was wondering how Austin was going to get himself out of the big gaping hole he put himself in! Haley’s revenge game is strong and her undercover mission she dragged her friends into us so funny. I can’t imagine the war in her head as she gets closer to Austin yet still planning her destruction. Austin is a great guy... but man he messed up. They both push buttons and yet can’t help but fall in love. Most enemies to lovers is choppy with the ending, but Summer did it soooo smoothly it was believable!
It was so great to see the characters from the first book so involved, they have such spunky and unique personalities.
