Luciano is a dark, possessive, brooding, vengeful and unforgiving alpha mafia boss. This book is detailed and complex and darkly romantic. If you've read Den of Sin you will have had a little peek into the lives of these mafia men, who are brought to their knees by their strong and impassioned women. Luciano is an equally gripping, addictive and unputdownable read. I adored the excitement and interwoven family politics of the mafia.

All of the above said, the shining star of this book is Grace. She is an incredibly strong lead. The Grace that evolves through the story is firey, confident, independent and just unbelievably tough. Her bravery throughout sets her apart from mafia wives I've read before. She is an equal (if not a little superior) to Luciano and they are a couple that truly earn their happy ending.

Oh and their chemistry is off the charts. When their heads and hearts aren't aligned, their bodies most definitely are!

There were three times that I stopped reading to check if there was a first book. Throughout the story the author talks about things that you are assumed to understand have happened but they haven’t happened in this book and there is no first book. It’s confusing. It would have made more sense for this to be a duology: the first where Luciano meets, kidnaps, and marries Grace and the second where she runs.

The other major issue is the repetition throughout the book. We keep being told the same things over and over and over again. She brings up having a gun put to her head but that’s it. She doesn’t explain how it made her feel or anything else. Even the spicy scenes feel the same.

There’s a lot of family info and world building in this but it’s confusing. There’s a story about the King and Romano families being from the same place in Italy but then maybe 6 chapters after they say the King family is from England. Confusing. Also confusing that an Italian mobster would have the name Kennedy. The background and characters just didn’t feel very tight.

Age gap was way to big for me

I can't force myself to keep reading this. This was the first book I've read from this author, and I'm not sure her stories are going to keep me interested. The premise was interesting, mostly. The miscommunication and repetitive info dumps were frustrating. I stopped caring about the characters by the 50% mark.

Loved it!
