The series takes a refreshing turn toward action in this installment (which, given we’re on book 5 is really needed).
The B plot of the Brotherhood is much more fleshed out than most of the other B plots in this series, and my favorites side man, Roman, inches closer to center stage. I know AH won’t write him as the main romance in this series but i’m holding out hope that maybe she’ll write another interconnected series about the brothers/almost brothers in this series and Roman will get his chance.
Vik and Ayana are great as a couple, the push and pull is very well done. I could have done without the hallmark-esque plot with Ayana’s fiancé, but I also didn’t hate it like I usually would.
The spice is delayed in this one to the back 50% of the book, but mostly on par with the rest of the series.
The 3rd act breakup that AH insists on including in all her books is a twist you can see coming miles away, but since I didn’t hate it, I didn’t deduct as many points as I usually would. Say it with me: third act breakups are completely unnecessary.
Anyways, we’ll have to wait a few months for Sebastian and Maya’s story, will probably catch up with her football series new one coming out this fall/winter when it releases.

Ana did it again with the kings of sin. Vuk isn’t social at all including speaking to others except with it comes to Ayana. But she was engaged to his best friend, what Vuk doesn’t know this is an arrangement for Ayana and his best friend. Such a great book.
