I loved this book! Carlos and Nik were perfect! I loved how Nik handled the proposal and Fisher all together. It was such a great read.
One of these days I’ll actually read a book series in order
So this book has managed to score only a 2 star when it's predecessor managed to get a 4, so part of me is actually questioning whether it was written by the same author, and why is it a Reese Witherspoon book club pick? To be honest I was swithering on whether to give it a 2 or 3, and perhaps if it had not been a follow up book it might have sneaked the extra star, or perhaps I would not have finished it at all, but because I enjoyed the first one it's hard not to compare them.
Starting with the characters; I really liked Carlos in the first book, he was a solid supporting character who seemed wiser and up for kicking the main character up the backside when he is being an a***. But as a main character on his own, I just didn't completely get it. That being said, he was still a fair sight better than Nik who I just could not get on with at all.
My other issue is that the book just felt a bit too formulaic and structured, and the ending was way way way too sudden. The previous book included a lot more personal growth and I felt a bit closer to the characters who I understood and related too far more. Like many sequels I started this with the hope of seeing Drew and Alexa, and although there were some scenes, they were few and far between. I am still planning to read the next book (particularly if this was a fluke) and I do have higher hopes given that this book actually takes place during the wedding itself, so even if I don't like the characters/story, then at least I should be able to see Drew and Alexa get married.

I thought I would like this due to reading The Wedding Date a few years ago. Nik as a character is cute and endearing but the plot was not my favorite. I am not a fan of a third act breakup. I do like that this was in the same world as The Wedding Date so we get the characters interacting with each other. I wish we had more of that honestly. It was a quick read once j got about 50% through. The first half dragged a bit.

*audiobook* Uck. The main character was unlikeable and annoying. Seemed to be a flimsy storyline, unlikeable characters, terrible humor/ dialogue... nothing really redeemable. Not sure why I finished it. I am happy to see the diversity included but I wish it had been in a better book.
Can totally understand why Reese picked this for her book club. Strong female empowerment with romance smooshed in. I love the idea of the gym (we need to make this real, ladies!). Women supporting women is right up my alley.
