I actually skipped the first chunk of pages because I couldn't get into the set up. Once Ro decided to get his behind in gear to see what was happening I couldn't put it down.

Defending Chloe was a great read. That was not only extremely well paced, but it drew me in from the start and easily held my interest throughout.

Thanks to a really engaging storyline that had a lovely mix of mystery and romance. Not to mention a little suspense. Plus, this series contains a great group of characters and in particular the main two Ro and Chloe. Who I just loved and I adored their relationship, and the way from the very start Ro did everything in his power to support and protect Chloe as she tried to escape her brother's clutches. And that was really nice to read, and I'm certainly looking forward to reading more from this series in the future. I would also happily recommend Defending Chloe to others.

**I was kindly provided with an ARC via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review**

Ro is worth the read.

I don't even know what to say. Read this series and start at the beginning. This one takes place in their city and the mafia. This was hard to put down.

I mean, Susan Stoker has really captured my attention with her books this last month and I would love to know why more people don’t give those books the time of day and if they are, why didn’t they tell me about them?!?!

Chloe is her brother's captive, trapped and tormented for a reason she doesn't know. When her path crosses with Ro, he decides to rescue her.

This was a fun listen with a strong element of grittiness that manages not to get overwhelming. I enjoyed the chemistry between the leads and the surprising resolution of the conflict, though the way the romantic conflict dragged on a little afterward was disappointing.
