I read this after watching the Netflix adaptation and liked it much better. Ella's character development and motivations are much stronger in the book. While the plot itself remains a little ridiculous, I liked it for the emotional rom com that it was!

Cute and sweet. It reminded me of Me Before You a tad. It was an easy read that I was able to escape into, which was good for this busy season of life.

I didn’t think I was going to like this book when I started it. I mean being offered your dream job on page one while in line for a different dream experience just felt a bit much, but I actually ended up really enjoying it. I think it would’ve been much better had Ella’s job back home been a more normal job for a 24 year old. It still could’ve been an impressive job without being so fully unrealistic. And honestly half the time I could just pretend it was since it didn’t come up often at all. I liked the romance. I liked the Jamie’s family dynamics. I thought the side characters were a tad flat, but still fun.
I was so sure Jamie was going to die and also so sure he needed to die for it to be a compelling story, but I actually really loved the semi open ended ending. We don’t know how much time he has with Ella but we know they’re happy together and I love that
