I would love to see an updated version of this book, a lot of what Hiaasen writes holds true but especially in recent years there’s been more to report on. I’d like to hear his thoughts on Disney’s contributions to the ‘don’t say gay’ bill in florida and the ongoing fight between Desantis and Disney’s private lawmaking district.

A sobering perspective on the Walt Disney Company. I appreciate being informed about their problems as an organization, and still love their movies!

Slim but interesting volume, from the days when I used to hate Disney for the wrong reasons. Hiaasen has better reasons, though these days Eisner's gone, the Ducks and Angels have been replaced with Muppets and superheroes, and Disney's vertical integration is so vertical it's almost horizontal. What he does target he targets well, plus a cameo from ICP!

This is a short read on Hiaasen's views on Disney. And his views are not favorable.

I found the little factoids bout Disney to be highly fascinating, but didn't quite agree with his conclusions. There are some thought-provoking points he COULD make about what Disney is doing but he takes the less nuanced "I live in Florida, and let me tell you, my neighbor Disney is TERRIBLE!" type of route in this.

I'm sure he could have made a legit argument for that, but he just...didn't. Again, there definitely is something ominous about Disney, he just didn't quite hit it on the head. I can't quite place my finger on it.

Jeff and I listened to the book on our way to a conference. I suggested a trip in September to Disneyworld and he said no. Emphatically.

Dated now, would like an updated version.

Exposes some of the little secrets in Disney's background. Quick read, wasn't as scathing as I expected, but tarnishes Disney a bit.

I think Hiaasen is making connections here that simply shouldn't be made. I understand Disney has completely changed central Florida but you can't hold Disney responsible for how other business react to these changes. Kinda stretching to make causations and got a little boring at the end.
