omg i wrote a whole fucking like too serious review and it didnt save so 😿

A very simple version of the original story

Ugh. The word that comes to mind is insipid. Though I suppose a dog mad kid would hate this book less. A pointless and boring learn-to-read book that also reminds you that a lady dog is all about stupid hats.

Still fun.

Simple words and phrases are illustrated with fun colorful pictures. The plot wanders, but my son loves it.

Probably as exciting as books go for those beginning to read. I really liked that it was a longer book though, and we spent quite some time reading it.

2015 Reading Challenge: A book from your childhood:

This was the VERY FIRST book I learned to read on my own. It's a bit repetitive like One Fish Two Fish, but still has some attempt at a narrative. My three year old self still lives inside me somewhere as she was still very excited about all the dogs, the silly hats, and especially the happy party in the tree. :)
