Go, Dog. Go!

P.D. Eastman

3.93 AVERAGE

Go Dog Go is a literary masterpiece that so bravely asks the question "Do you like my hat?". It is a story of not only accepting other's differences but embracing them. It is a story about learning to let loose and have fun. It is a story about finding the right hat. And what is life about, if not trying to find the right hat?

Brief summary - A dog (or dogs) use various modes to go on silly vignettes through this story
Annotation - This is a great read for kids, although it doesn't really go together as a comprehensive story there are a lot of lines that are memorable.
Age appropriateness 0-4 years
Connection to six early literacy skills
Phonological awareness - A lot of simple words and site words plus the repetition is a good way to help students learn.
Opinion - Although this is not a deep story, it is a great book to read aloud and to learn to read.

This is a great book for young readers and ESL students. It allows simple words with similar sounds to be repeated and practiced in a fun story.

With a small list of repeating words this story quickly engages the young mind. My son always loves getting to the last page where they climb the tree to the "Dog Party!"
lighthearted fast-paced
Plot or Character Driven: Plot

one of my all time favorite books from when I was a kid

shordy had me laughing with the do you like my hat? i do not like it

As a very small child, this was such a favorite of mine! I adored the hats, and the cars, and the especially the party at the end.

I was really looking forward to reading this again, and felt the same happiness reading it as an adult!

Not like the English version

I was hoping this would match the English version so I could read this to my daughter. Go dog go is one of her favorites and I also want her to learn Spanish so I was hoping reading this would help but it's only a few pages and not really accurate to the original. :( Disappointed but at least didn't waste much time with it.
