This was so good! I loved this story so much and Astrid and Penn were so perfect for each other. Lily and Bentley were such fun children and were the perfect additions. I loved how neither of them completely rewrote history and acted like Brandon was perfect, but accepted that things weren’t perfect and he hadn’t been perfect.

“In a room full of people, he’s the only one I want to see.”
There were so many things I loved about this story, but one of my favorite ones was how the author showed that there's more to being a woman than just being a mom, even if you are a mom. How it's ok to have dreams and want things for yourself that don't revolve around your kids.
Astrid is the widow of Penn's best friend, which makes their feelings for each other complicated. But there's no denying that they are meant to be together. I loved the way that they supported each other first as friends, which only was enhanced when they became more. Penn is the absolute perfect partner, and it made me happy that Astrid got to experience the difference between a good and a poor partner. Another thing that I loved was how Astrid didn't let her relationship with her ex affect what their kids thought of their father.
Aiden Snow and Vanessa Edwin are both ntm narrators, and I gotta say they were perfect for this story. They brought all the feels and absolutely killed it.
Quote: “This is it for me. This is what I want. You and the kids. A life of the two of us chasing our dreams together, lots of naked times, and late-night talks. I want to build a future with you because you are the woman that was meant for me.”

This was a sweet, sad and somewhat annoying story. I’m not a huge fan of the characters themselves but the premise is great.

This series from Harlow James is quickly becoming one of my favorites. I knew this book and story between Astrid and Penn was going to be fantastic when we were introduced to them in the first book, but now I find myself impatiently awaiting the stories of Grady, Parker, and especially Hazel.
Okay, back to the couple in question. They were everything I hoped for when navigating this relationship from husband’s best friend to lover. There were a lot of moving parts for both of them, but when their two parts came together and they each began to grow in their respective goals and careers - perfection.
The love story and spice is always perfectly balanced with Harlow James and I love that about her writing. I also love how her MMCs are a little alpha, a little cinnamon roll, and a little grumpy all in one. It’s like all my favorite types of men melded together.
I loved watching Astrid as a mom and exploring her new world as a bakery owner. Penn grows into himself too and he was such a great male figure to Astrid’s kids. He understood them differently because he knew them deeply, but could see from the outside. That scene when he had Bentley and was letting him speak about his anger in his own time? And the resulting conversation? Having lost my own dad four years ago this week it definitely had me sobbing and feeling all the emotions for the both of them. Harlow hit it right on the head with the fear everyone has about losing a loved one - it’s so scary when that person who was such a big part of your life isn’t forgotten, but you begin to lose some parts of them. Okay, sniffling again so time to wrap this one up. Astrid and Penn are wonderful, strong characters on their own, but together they are really something special.

“I want to romanticize every little thing about my life with you, Astrid. I want to keep you forever, show you that you can have it all. That you deserve that, and that I can be the someone that you need in your life.”
I loved Someone You Deserve by Harlow James! Travel back to the charming small town of Carrington Cove for this emotional friends-to-lovers romance. Penn and Astrid will melt your heart with their sizzling chemistry, genuine friendship, and mutual pining. She lost her husband years ago and he made a promise to protect his best friend’s family; unwilling to disrupt their chosen family dynamic, they’ve resisted their attraction for years. The baker and the reliable town handyman were perfectly paired with sweetheart energy, I was smitten with them. Astrid was relatable and endearing, her backstory made my heart ache. Penn was a dreamy hunk worthy of book-husband status. Astrid’s children were complex, well-developed characters who tugged at my heartstrings. I adore small-town romance and Carrington Cove was a lovely place to visit. I’m excited for more of this series!
Vanessa Edwin and Aiden Snow were amazing in their performances of Astrid and Penn. Aiden’s portrayal of the heart-melting, broody, and protective crunchy cinnamon roll Penn was everything. Vanessa flawlessly brought Astrid’s kindhearted, sultry, mama bear character to life. I loved every moment of these two fabulous voices bringing Harlow James’s wonderful love story off the page! If you’re looking for sweet & spicy small-town romance, get this audiobook in your ears now.

I couldn't wait to dive into this one after reading the first book in this series. This book had me at single mom romance. Oh my gosh does Penn steal my heart. That man really steps for Astrid and her kids after his best friend's death. There is a lot of of emotions in this one. The feel of guilt of finding love after loss. You can feel the battle between the characters, but this book is also so beautiful. Astrid is finally getting to live her dream of owning a bakery and getting the support she deserves. That's one of the things I loved about Penn the support he gives Astrid not just with her children, but of her dreams. I really love my visits to this small North Carolina coastal town. I also enjoyed catching up with the previous couple and seeing them in their HEA. A great read that I recommend. I can't wait for the next book in the series because it sounds like it's going to be so good!
