I read it all in one day. I couldn't put it down. The resolution to the crimes felt slightly like an afterthought, and it who I predicted, though not how, but there was a lot else to wrap up, and over all, it was satisfying, though I'd have made a different choice than one of the characters.

I'd happily assign 4.5 stars. That's a 90 in school, seems fair. It left me wanting still more from Lynley and Barbara, though her inability to understand other people don't view sex only as an unpleasant euphemism did begin to wear on me. I liked the horizon-broadening idea at the end.

Picked this up at the library sale some years ago and finally pulled it out of the pile to read. A delightful distraction during these trying times.

Not bad, but still not as good as her earlier books. She does allow Lynley and Havers to experience a tiny bit of happiness, so this book is not as unrelentingly grim as the last few. It's a big doorstop of a book that would benefit from being edited down, however.

Enjoyable read. Can't give a 5 because some of the content is hard to digest but still a gripping read that leaves you turning pages when you should be sleeping. Some of the characters are becoming a bit too stuck in their roles (e.g. Isabelle) but others are developing quite nicely. Would have liked more page time for Nkata, but oh well.

The book is ok.
It dealt with drugs and poison.(Good info though).
The book was very long for this simple plot.
Speaking of consequences,its ok.
As usual an unexpected twist.(only thats worth reading).
Overall okish.

3.75/5 stars. While I enjoyed George's most recent Lynley novel, I felt it was a little flat in comparison to some of the others in the series. I think this largely had to do with the fact that in past books, George has spent more time on the lives of the recurring characters than she did in this one. Because of this, I didn't feel as engrossed with the novel as I usually do when reading George's books.
