I read 179 pp and still didn’t care for it so this is a DNF. The way men talk abt women and women talk abt women in this book felt like a throwback. I kept thinking it was satirical but I don’t think it was. Seemed good to try something diff, more of a genre read, but I’m running back to investigative journalism and lit fiction.
Amusing and mostly ungripping, but somehow ends leaving me wanting to find out more...
This series is my fab by this author. I totally read these put of order but they do well on background so it was ok. Good and funny story!
I'm glad I was exposed to this book and author through book club. It was fun and lighthearted and made me chuckle.

After reading other books by Moore, this was a little disappointing. It was a silly vampire book, but it didn't seem as smart as others he has written. I loved that the Emperor (a minor character) shows up in other Moore books, too.
"Tommy took an elevator to the twenty-first floor, then followed the signs until he found the right department. An officious-looking older woman told him to have a seat in the reception room, she would be right with him. Then she took great pains to act as if he had been sucked off the planet."
I am not a huge fan of vampire books - other than "Dracula", of course. There are some humorous moments but this book is not as charming as the other trilogy I read by Christopher Moore. Maybe because vampires aren't typically funny?? The quirky characters are definitely there -- The Emperor and his royal hounds are amazing and they totally need their own book. (He also has the BEST lines in the whole story!) Actually, the most enjoyable part of the book, for me, is the characters - every one is weirdly wonderful in their own way. The writing is well done and I loved the ending.
