Here I was, thinking Jane Austen's most manipulative main character was Emma Woodhouse, and Lady Susan comes strolling along and tells Emma, "Hold my drink." 🫳🎤
I listened to the Blackstone Publishing audiobook narrated by a full cast. I did not like any of the narrators, as the women weren't British (super weird to hear Jane Austen's words in an American accent 😂) and the male narrator was a little over the top.
I liked how short this book was, only 3 hours in audiobook format. It's told as a series of letters between the main characters and the tea they served was piping HOT! Definitely one of the most scandalous of Austen's FMCs, Lady Susan is a mature (by mature, Austen means 35 years old 💀) widow, on the prowl for improving her financial status and bent on causing chaos just for fun.
I enjoyed this book a lot and I'm looking forward to my next Austen ☺️

This short novella was good even though it doesn’t match the mastery of her later novels and shows some of her juvenila ways in it.
I absolutely hated Lady Susan and so much wanted for Fredrica to get away from her mother.
The adaptation of it highlighted the comedic nature of this novel that might be lost on some without careful reading.
It’s not an amazing story but it is a fun and funny one!

J'ai toujours eu du mal a rentrer dans les classiques mais celui ci m'a happée tout de suite et a réussi a me garder diverti presque tout le long du livre. C'est également mon premier Jane Austen et je peux garantir que ce ne sera pas mon dernier.
