This was so great! The cover is gorgeous and I didn’t want to stop the book once I started. I found it addictive! I listened to the audible and it had me gripped. The narration was brilliant and really added magic to the story!

A Nigerian fantasy about twin goddesses who were separated at birth.
When I say I want fantasy with black characters, THIS IS WHAT I MEAN! This story pulled me in from the very first sentence. It has all the heart warming tropes such as:
Found family
The Chosen Ones
Friends to Lovers
I give it 4 stars only because the twins did not reunite until the very last chapter. However, the rest of the book was so beautiful that I truly did not mind it at all. It also helps that there is a second book.
It dealt with themes of grief, love, and the value of self worth.
Also, I’m convinced that the author was a therapist in another life because there were soooo many inspiring quotes?
I know this isn’t the most explanatory review but it is just so hard to put how amazing this book is into words and you really should just read it and see for yourself!

This book was really slow building. Typically I don’t mind slow builds, but I definitely think this book could’ve picked up the pace just a little bit. I really liked the premise of the book as well as the cover (I mean COME ON. It’s gorgeous.) the characters were good. The world building was okay. I just don’t think the book was all that unique. It was still a decent read and I do plan on continuing the series. I think there are a lot of avenues the series could take so I’m really looking forward to learning more about the world and magic system.

The writing style is not my cup of tea; it felt very fanfic/movie script which in its self is not at all a bad thing, it's just not how I prefer my fantasy books as it takes me out of the story every few paragraphs.

It was an excellent book to get lost in and I'm loving that this was my entrance into Nigerian mythos.
That being said, I'm still confused about how the magic system functions, it felt half formed almost? And the build up to them meeting took ages with the last 2 chapters feeling INSANELY rushed. Not a fan of the pacing or the ambiguous magic system.Like they were expected to take down the Eze with days of training (if even that) and it only took a few paragraphs? I'm confused.
