What a great page-turning thriller! I could barely stand to put this one down, and when I wasn't reading it, I was thinking about what's next. An engrossing read with great diverse representation. Trigger warnings for blood/gore, trauma, sexual assault/abuse, molestation, grooming, hostage situations, gun violence, domestic abuse... it's a REALLY heavy book but it does well handling the sensitive topics and exploring a deeply traumatized character's story.

I've hit the jackpot with YA thriller this year. So far, all of them are absolutely great and gripping. The Girls I've Been took it up the notch by being absolutely addictive first chapter in. It's calculative, manipulative, deceptive and something I've never read before. While it is YA, the character felt older than what I envisioned, especially Nora who frankly lives more than seven lives. I can't stop myself and bam, I've finished the book in one sitting! Highly recommend this book to anyone in need of a good thriller. Can't wait for it to be turned into a TV drama or movie, it's going to be sick!
