All I knew before starting this book is that it had some Greek mythology influence. The book grasps your attention from the beginning, the world is easy to understand and there are several plot twists throughout so it isn't an extremely obvious plot. I am very excited to see how the rest of the series plays out.

‘The Curse of Ophelia’ is a romantic fantasy about Ophelia Alabath who, despite what everyone keeps telling her, goes on a quest to save her best friend and lover, Malakai, and save her people, the Mystiques. I really enjoyed reading this book, from the fights scenes to the lore to the evolution of all the characters. It was very easy and entertaining to read and I finished it in two days! The plot twist at the end had me at the end of my seat and the little details here and there that built up towards the finale. I’m very excited to continue with the rest of the series! The only thing I can say is that the beginning was kind of slow and I was glad that the pace picked up after that. Also, I wasn’t that into Ophelia and Malakai’s relationship, I kind of shipped her with someone else. We’ll see, I guess, there’s four book left so who knows? Overall, I definitely recommend this book, it was so so good and a perfect fantasy read!

Author is a bit repetitive when describing the inner monologue of the fmc and the setting. Love the characters and the plot. I wish there was more unspoken communication and time spent with each relationship.

Struggling to rate this and write a review.  I almost feel like a 3 star rating is still generous.
I wasn’t really sucked in like I thought I would be. I was able to predict pretty much everything that would happen from early on. I didn’t and couldn’t relate to the characters. Things that should have been explained really weren’t and things that didn’t need to be ruminated on, were.
I’m team Tolek. 💅I feel like Malaki was weak and Ophelia was whiny.

I am curious as to if the second book gets better, but because I didn’t identify with this one, I’m not sure if I’ll continue the series.
