Overall I really enjoyed this book!! I’m really excited to read the second one to see how everything unfolds.
The first part of the book was a bit clunky. I felt it was really repetitive and I found myself skimming which is why I give it four stars. Parts two and three the author definitely found her groove!! I was completely hooked and couldn’t put the book down! With the bread crumbs the author scattered through the story I was able to guess some big reveals but that epilogue was so unexpected that I will be immediately starting book two to learn more!

i just really really enjoyed the journey that this book took me on. ophelia was such an amazing main character, and the supporting cast was diverse, fleshed out, and added so much humor and lightheartedness whenever it was necessary. i cannot wait to see the character of tolek be developed even further, because i just know that we only got a little peek at his character, and his relationship with ophelia.
i would have loved a few more flashbacks, because i think that would have helped me to see and understand ophelia's relationship with the other characters a little better (it might just be because i want to see more of young tolek).
i also think that this just had such amazing writing! i had seen a few sneak peeks from nicole's Instagram, but i didn't know entirely what to expect going in, but i was so so so pleasantly surprised!
overall, such a strong fantasy romance, and cannot wait to see where nicole takes these amazing characters in the rest of the series

This started out slow for me, and I felt like one of the major twists was predictable. However, I liked how it ended, and I’m interested to see what happens in the rest of the series!

I really wanted to love this but it was a bit all over the place, unfortunately. Alot of the interesting parts like the Angels were under explained in an effort to be mysterious and alot of the tedious YA thoughts and feels were over explained. You wait the whole book for Opehlia to partake in the Undertaking and it turns out to be like a pack of wolves and some riddles???
I will say though... the Epilogue has intrigued me enough to try book 2
