Man, I felt for Charlie from the beginning and no matter how hard it seemed he was never able to get ahead. Mason’s calming presence helps so much with his puppy but also for him. I loved the trust they had with each other and how easily they fit (when someone wasn’t second guessing themselves). I love the dogs too, they just rounded out their little family perfectly.

I received a copy of this book and am giving an honest review

Like a 2.5 rounded down, because I was way more invested in the dogs than the couple.

Another sweet and sexy novella in the Bold brew series, this time with a tender, kinky twist. We meet Charlie who is a self-described mess months after he broke up with his bf who cheated on him, leaving him rather insecure and even more anxious than he was before. He meets Mason, a dog trainer because he needs help with his very exuberant husky puppy that is hilariously destructive and out of control.
Their coming together is so lovely to see as it unfolds because Charlie has to learn to let go and trust, and Mason as the older more experienced one has the patience to see that Charlie is worth the wait. Charlie's ex, who he first explored his kinky side with, took advantage of his trust while they were together and he has to come to terms with how he allowed that to happen as he and Mason negotiate what it means to be in a committed relationship together.

Series: Bold Brew #2
Rating: 2 stars - It was ok

Charlie's life is spiraling out of control. He recently became single, he has a job that he can’t talk about in public, and his puppy is slowly destroying his apartment. He decides it's time for a dog trainer but Mason ends up being more than just that.

While I mostly liked this book, I struggled to stay engaged with it. Something about the writing style mixed with the characters made me keep putting this book down. Charlie was a hardworking guy who recently went through a tough breakup. Now he is struggling with everything life has thrown at him, especially an active puppy. Mason and Charlie had a rough start but they quickly developed a strong connection. Charlie was just a cute man, with a cute dog, who was looking for life to give him a bit of a break.

I liked both of these characters but there were a few things that bothered me. Charlie is constantly comparing Mason to his ex, which is fine, but it got annoying because it was coming up during the sex scenes when he should have been focused on Mason. At least the constant comparison did allow Charlie to see how toxic his ex had been and how he wasn’t a good Dom. There were a few times that Mason’s actions did not work for me. I would expecting more discussion or comfort during certain scenes and instead he would just jump right into sex. Overall, this was ok but I definitely preferred the first book better.

1.5 didn't really connect with the characters and I was never able to get invested in their connection with eachother.
tbh the part of this book that made me feel the most things was the tales of struggling with a tornado of a Husky puppy. Been there. That's the type of psychological torture I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy.

this started out very strong but over-all the story was rather basic and felt rather rushed. i also can’t really say why, but i disliked the way mason and charlie interacted. instead of stopping when he realised charlie was uncomfortable or demanding a clear answer, mason just kept going and didn’t change his behaviour. it didn’t feel like he knew what he was doing or really cared about charlie, more like he tried to push his own believes/wants onto him (exactly the thing that the ex-boyfriend did). i reeeeally would’ve liked a scene where they stop what they are doing when charlie gets uncomfortable and just TALKED.

This is a sweet, sexy story about a guy who has lost his trust in his own judgement and the dog trainer who helps him figure it all out.

The chemistry is fantastic, there's enough tension around Charlie working out how to trust again that you are drawn in until the very end, but there's nothing too angsty.

I received an ARC and have chosen to leave an honest review.

I have enjoyed other works by Allison Temple, but this did not work for me.

Maybe it was the very quick time line, the whole story is only a handful of meetings but I did not sense an emotional connection or relationship development.
