Thoroughly enjoyed.

If you like scream meets smut(a lot of it) with some twists it’s for you. I would not recommend for anyone who’s been sexually abused or has cultish trama… Some of the scenes are darker. Not a good enough plot for my liking.

So what have we got here.
We’ve got cult survivors, rituals, murders, a town full of secrets and spice. Oh and it’s labeled mmf, but it’s more mfm.

I’m struggling between 3 and 4 stars. This is not a masterpiece but it’s catchy and a good in between book for the spooky season. ⚠️Caution this book has some on page murders and the FMC is meek and not super bright.

Small Business BookTok ARC Reviews: “Slash or Pass” by Tylor Paige

Note: This ARC was given to me for free by the author and I am reviewing this book voluntarily.

A sinister cult has held three friends captive for years. Two of them escaped, but one of them did not. Ten years later, after escaping said cult, Eisley and Kansas have made a new life for themselves, but Eisley still finds herself grieving over the one person she couldn't save. When a documentary crew decides to capitalize off of Eisley and Kansas's past and make a production out of it, chaos ensues, secrets are revealed, and Eisley's heart is tested when someone from her past resurfaces. Fasten your seatbelts, because this one's a screamer!

What in Woodsboro did I just read?! This was my first Dark Horror Romance novel, and it was the most shocking Dark Horror Romance book I’ve ever read…And I loved it! This book was literally “Scream” fan service, and as a Horror, and “Scream” fan myself, I ate up the drama in this book like it was popcorn! The worldbuilding was brilliantly established, making you feel as if you were sucked into a 90’s slasher film setting! The cast of characters were also well established, providing us with your classic horror character tropes while also subverting them at the same time! This book also gives us a clever use of Anti-Villains! Anti-Villains are villains who have goals that come from a benevolent place, but will go through diabolical means to get to that goal.

Also, can we talk about the effective use of commentary irony? It can be argued that there are debates in Horror film circles as to whether or not some horror movies have poor disability/mental health representation and promote intimacy shaming. It’s interesting though how a lot of the characters who are either killed or targeted in the narrative are either ableist towards mental disabilities or are repeated intimacy shamers. Props to the author for giving important commentary on the harmfulness of ableism and intimacy shaming in a creative way!

While some of the flashbacks within the narrative did make me uncomfortable, I find the uncomfortability effective! This is a dark horror story that tackles serious themes with precise execution! As for the relationships in this book? I..I can’t talk about it too much, or I’ll give too much away, but OMG the spice and draaaamaaaa! *Eats popcorn maniacally*. If you’re a Horror fan and looking for the perfect spooky and spicy guilty pleasure read this Halloween, don’t miss out on this book when it reaches online shelves September 22nd, 2023!

Run and don't look back....
Those were the last word Eisley heard her best friend Constantine yell as she and their other best friend Kansas ran, escaping from the cult that had been holding them captive as children.

Ten years later the past has come back to haunt her when a film crew starts to dig up the history of "The Family." And the "Sinister Minister." With their arrival a part of her past returns as well that she thought was buried a long time ago.

Slash or Pass has all the hallmarks of a great slasher horror films, with the spice and erotica I've come to love with Tylor Paige's writing. I'm absolutely loving the Final Girl series and will be reading and reviewing more in this series.

With a fun mix of a classic slasher movies like Scream with culty church vibes, some Frankenstein's monster and a beautifully written MMF why choose, this book has something for all the dark romance loving ghouls out there.

omg!

Right into the spice!!!! I loved eisley from the beginning! Any girl who would rather use her garden for the spooky stuff has my heart! The flash backs helped make the story feel real! Her friends were s*** and I’m happy she figured that out in the end!
