The Guest List is an interesting take on a locked room mystery with a fascinating cast of characters, a few twists, and a remote location that creates a great suspenseful book that shows secrets will not stay that way.

I love the suspense Lucy Foley is able to make with the remote location and the violent storms. I also love how Lucy Foley can take all these different stories and make them seamlessly come together to create one big picture. Finally, I enjoyed that you don't actually find out who is murdered until the end because it kept me that much more engaged.

The cast of characters are interesting, but I did not connect to a single one, so I didn't shed a tear. If I had to pick one character that I didn't entirely dislike, it would have to be Olivia because she does her best to protect those she loves even when it causes her deep pain. I admire that love and devotion to family.

Highly recommend to thriller fans, any lock room mystery fans, and any Agatha Christie fans because I think Lucy Foley pays a good homage to Christie in her novels.

I really enjoyed the mystery of the book and how the pieces come together. The writer is very good at deciding which bits of information come when and no chapter feels dry. Every chapter has a little clue and trying to piece together the mystery was very engaging. I found the ending to be satisfying and I can tell the author knew the whole story as she wrote it and didn’t decide on the more innocent character just to be shocking.

I love a classic mystery, and this definitely feels like one. It features big old spooky house on a remote island, a big event, and a bunch of guests with dark, interconnected secrets. It took me a little while to get into this story. I think it’s because there was a lot of “table setting” in the first half for the feast of drama and intrigue that unfolds in the second. But once that first domino falls, the story moves at a clip leading to a breathtaking and satisfying conclusion. It’s a fun ride that I highly recommend.
