My first and most favorite Lisa Kleypas novel. Derek Craven makes me go into a major sighing session each and every time I think about him.
This is the reason why Kleypas became a favorite author of mine. Should re-read it sometime to write a full review on my favorite Kleypas novel.

The tortured hero Derek did not do it for me at all. I enjoyed Sara's character arc much more, but she had her TSTL moments. She wrote a popular book called Mathilda about a bold prostitute, and eventually she goes to a masquerade posing as the fictional Mathilda to a lot of success. I liked that part the best, but then the plot went back to Derek ugh.

Excellent.
I went into this prepared for a 1994 book. What I got was more Lisa Kleypas, year irrelevant. Her books are consistently great. I thought Dreaming of You was enriched by having read loads of her series before this. By now, I've read so much about Derek Craven's villainy, I was thrilled to finally get his story.

O. M. Goodness.
Derek. Is. My life.
Their romance, their love, is everything.
This is honestly one of the few historical romances that I have re-read again and again and again.
And again.
I laughed. Swooned (multiple times), and cried. Lord Lisa, with this one, you did incredibly. And this is why I love you.
