This was very disappointing and did not age well.

Firstly, the historic background is based on Israeli propaganda and takes a "both sides are bad" stance. The FMC is Israeli.

Secondly, the romance is extremely uncompelling and the FMC barely holds a single moral over her sexual desires. The MMC is not appealing, attractive, witty, fun, or any other quality that might make the FMCs desire for him relatable.

Had to skip the middle 40% and just read the end. Hopefully the next book matches the quality of the first book and not this one.

I definitely liked this book better than the first one. Maybe it's because it's alluded that War has been on Earth longer than Pestilence was or what but I enjoyed this. I don't know why these are so intriguing but they are. Major spoiler for the first and second book:
I know Pestilence gave up his purpose for Sara but War actually physically giving up his purpose aka his sword ate so much harder than Pestilence. Like not only did War give up his sword, he begged his brother to bring his wife and unborn daughter back to life. Also them going from men who are committing what I would consider essential war crimes to having families is actually kinda hilarious
. I feel like I'm going to love the rest of the series
