Just not my favorite style. I liked the relationship between the protagonist and his niece and nephew and also enjoyed the bride’s sister (the “launt”), but it was just too sentimental for my taste.

I didn’t like this one as much as the first, but still really enjoyed it. I love the main character and am obsessed with his personality and banter so I think I’d enjoy any book with him as a character!

Guncle Love Language Rule #6, "Love is something special to be protected."

Reader, this book made me cry, and I'm not a book cryer. Things started slow, as the story suffered from "second book" syndrome - Instead of showing, the author does way too much telling in order to catch up those who are reading book two as a stand-alone, or read the first one too long ago. And then it found its footing. Gungle Patrick and his niblings, Maisie and Grant, are going through growing pains as they maneuver big changes in their respective lives. The author does a great job of showing how they are struggling with growing as individuals, without growing apart. Like in book #1, there are Gungle rules, adventures, and a letter that will make your heart both hurt and fill will love. (This is after all a book that tackles loss, and love.) And for the cherry on top, there is a Launt (lesbian aunt Palmina) who teaches Patrick a few life lessons he doesn't want, but definitely needs.

I can't wait for more Guncle adventures.
